WarrenPeace – “Egg Nog Heavy”
The song is very stream of consciousness but sets the mood of the lonely, wistful feeling that can set in at holiday time. The video is another story – a commentary on the costumes we all wear and the lengths we go in order to fulfill others’ expectations of us. If that sounds too “heavy,” it’s also quite humorous at times. Santa even plays basketball!
WarrenPeace is an evolving lyricist. He originally began his musical journey fronting a band called the Freematics before dissolving the band due to dissatisfaction with the pace of creating new material. He started his solo career in 2011 with the release of an EP titled “From Detroit to Darabougou,” a collection of tracks he had recorded during his time with the band and a few new tracks recorded specifically for the album. Since that release, WarrenPeace has been actively curating a new style, assisted by the production of long-time friend Rich Heebner. This new stylistic approach is primarily based on more interesting rhythmic patterns and less concrete lyrics featuring complex and often humorous wordplay. “Egg Nog Heavy” is the first example of this transformation that is available to the public.
